Eucalyptus and Cedarwood Body Powder for Men

This invigorating body powder for men helps keep skin dry while leaving behind masculine notes of eucalyptus and cedarwood. Perfect for men’s body powder!

Men’s Body Powder

After making myself some rose body powder, my husband quickly requested one for himself. Since I had figured out the process, I knew that it would be easy enough to make a more masculine variation.
Also, because there are questions about whether or not talc powder causes cancer, it’s best to find a more natural powder solution.

Choosing The Ingredients

In my last body powder, I used ground rose petals for scent. For this men’s body powder, I wanted to find an herb that could also easily be ground into a fine powder.
I considered using ground cinnamon or cloves, but I didn’t want to irritate his skin. I also thought about frankincense powder, but I did not have any on hand and it was a little bit expensive. However, it would definitely make a lovely addition to a body powder.
Next, I considered ground citruses like grapefruit, lemon, or orange. I could have chosen these, but they are a little gritty and would carry very little aroma.

For this men’s body powder, I settled on Eucalyptus powder. Since I had some dried eucalyptus leaves on hand, I used my herb grinder to grind them as fine as possible. I actually even had to put the powder through a sifter to get out some of the fibers that just wouldn’t grind. You can buy eucalyptus leaf powder instead to save yourself the trouble!

To add some moisture and depth to the eucalyptus, I decided to incorporate some diluted cedarwood oil. I chose Virginian Cedarwood (Juniperus virginiana), but you could also choose Atlas, Himalayan or Texan Cedarwood. All have a great deodorizing and woodsy aroma.

Jojoba Oil

For a carrier oil, I chose jojoba. It is actually a wax, which makes it a little thicker than oil. Also, it is odorless and it blends well into this body powder for men. You could also choose to use another light oil such as fractionated coconut oil, sweet almond oil, or grapeseed oil.

Arrowroot Powder

Finally, I blended everything together in a base of arrowroot powder as it is my favorite starch for homemade body powders. Arrowroot powder is light and powdery and very good at absorbing moisture.

Body Powder for Men

This invigorating body powder for men helps keep skin dry while leaving behind masculine notes of eucalyptus and cedarwood. Perfect for men’s body powder!

  • 2 tablespoons eucalyptus leaf powder ((or grind up eucalyptus leaves))
  • 1 cup arrowroot powder
  • 12 drops cedarwood essential oil ((Juniperus virginiana))
  • 2 tablespoons jojoba oil
  • 1 pint mason jar with lid
  • 1 funnel
  • 2 bowls
  1. Begin making your men’s body powder by combining 2 tablespoons ground eucalyptus powder with 1 cup arrowroot powder in a large bowl. Stir well to mix.
  2. Measure 2 tablespoons of jojoba and 12 drops of cedarwood essential oil into a small bowl. Stir well to completely dilute all essential oil.
  3. Add oil mixture to powder mixture. Stir well, breaking up clumps as they form. I used a fork to help mash up any clumps. This may take several minutes of stirring, but it will save you from having large clumps in your jar!
  4. Using a funnel or a spoon, transfer body powder to a mason jar.
  5. Cap tightly and store in a cool, dry, dark place. Use as needed.
This recipe is more of a bulk quantity. It makes over 8 ounces (dry) ounces of body powder which will surely last for some time. However, since the ingredients are all dry and the jojoba oil has a fairly long shelf life, it can keep for about 6 months.
If using eucalyptus leaves, use an herb grinder or mortar and pestle to grind into a fine powder. There may be fibers left in your powder, so sift these out using a fine mesh strainer.

So far my husband has used this men’s body powder before and after workouts, at work, in his shoes, along with his deodorant, and pretty much everywhere else! He likes the scent and is happy to have something that helps him stay dry, especially now that summer is almost here.
